Pray for Bulgaria

Roma Teenage Girls >

Just as in other parts of the Balkans, the Roma people (gypsies) in Bulgaria are generally treated as second class citizens, who regularly face social exclusion, racism, substandard education, hostility, joblessness, rampant illness, inadequate housing, lower life expectancy, unrest, living on desperate margins, stereotypes, mistrust, rights violations, discrimination, marginalization, appalling living conditions, prejudice, human rights abuse, etc.

1)    Let us pray for the hearts of the Bulgarian people. Overall the Bulgarians are a good people but there is this prejudge against the Roma. Lord, we ask for You to create trust among the races in Bulgaria.
2)    We want to especially pray for Bulgarian Christians. Let us pray that many would be moved with compassion to reach out to the Roma people.
3)    We know there are Roma churches being raised up in Bulgaria. All over the Balkans God is moving among the Roma. Lord, we just want to praise You for bringing them to the table.
4)    Lord, we pray for healthy interaction between Bulgarian Christians and the Roma Christians. The redeemed of both races will stand before the Lord’s throne and praise Him together, for eternity.
5)    Lord, we know the Roma as a people group, have many problems; They are known for their dishonesty and disrespect to others. Lord, we know You have a new nature for us all. Lord, let your heavenly standard spread throughout the Roma communities.
6)    The Roma have decided to live among other cultures rather than seek a nation of their own. Lord, help them to respect their host country.

The Balkan Networks, an organization located in Romania, has sent out a call to intercessors to set aside September 2nd to pray for the Balkan countries. Let us join in, this coming Sunday, and pray for God’s favor for the Balkans. I recommend you read over their website.

Pray for Bosnia Herzegovina

In this Saturday Aug. 11, 2012 photo the clothes in which 6-year-old Tarik Bijelic died hang on the line in front of his family's small house in the village of Olovske Luke, 60 kilometers north of Sarajevo, Bosnia. Tarik Bijelic was hit by a land mine last week as he scavenged in the forest for firewood to help his family make ends meet. He died in his father’s arms.

Two more discouraging Reports
Posted on August 15th, 2012
With international interest in the country having dissolved, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s politicians can now start pulling apart the political architecture imposed by the US Government at Dayton, bringing the state ever closer to irretrievable collapse.

KONJIC, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) - Heavy winds, steep hills and landmines were complicating firefighters' efforts to battle four blazes in southern Bosnia on Friday, including one close to an ammunition factory, authorities said.

     1.      These three reports signal to us the troubles and sorrows in Bosnia Herzegovina. Lord, we pray for Your mercy for the land. They did to see the Light, they need relief.
       2.      Let us pray that a new war in Bosnia would be avoided. Lord, make a way for the three cultures to reconcile their differences.
      3.    Some say a divided Bosnia Herzegovina would be best and some say they must stay together. Lord, we pray that You would help the Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats work out this problem in peace.
      4.    Let us pray for a way to detect the land minds. Is there a radar or long-distance metal detector that can be applied?

In the past two years there has been growth in the number of evangelicals; from 700 to about 2,200. That is encouraging but in a land of 4 million people there is much more evangelizing to do.

      5.     Lord, we thank You for tripling the number of believers in the past two years. Let us pray that in the next two years there would be ten times as many believers as there are today.

Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV)  So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,  praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

     6.    Let us first pray for unity among the Christians in B-H.
      7.    Oh, Lord, we do pray for souls to be added daily to the Christian fellowships in Bosnia Herzegovina.
     8.      Let us pray for the Christians in B-H. May the Lord hold them in the faith and encourage their hearts. Lord, we ask for Your presence to be in their small gatherings.
      9.      Lord, send missionaries into Bosnia Herzegovina. Give them strategy to plant churches throughout the country. Break their hearts for this unevangelized land.
     10.  Lord, we pray that finances would be raised for the churches in B-H and the pastors and elders would know how to properly apply these monies toward the kingdom.
     11.  Let us pray for the city of Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia Herzegovina. Ninety five percent Muslim is a curse that can stifle any city. Lord, give grace to the Christians that live there and show them how to bless their neighbors.

Pray for Albania

Week of Aug 13 - 19, 2012
In my research before writing this prayer directive, I kept coming across articles about coastal development in Albania. There are projects being planned to build resorts to attract tourist and vacationers. The Albanian government is seeking investors to help them develop their Adriatic coast.

1)      Lord, we ask for Your blessings upon the restoration of natural beauty and resorts in Albania.  Let us pray for investors that will have a heart for Albania and want to give back to the people from the profits.
2)      Let us pray for open doors for Christians to be involved in this development of Albanian’s natural resources: Christian investors, construction workers, hospitality and service workers. Lord, bless Your people with jobs.

I felt concerned about the Church in Albania. Please join me in praying Ephesians 4:11-16 over the Albanian church.
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

3)      Let us pray for unity among the Albanian Christians. Pray that they would “…come to the unity of the stature of the fullness of Christ;”. Lord, develop the “five-fold ministry” in the Albanian churches.
4)      Lord, raise up Pastors that will show Your love to the people. Men and women that can be trusted with the lives of others. May they be examples of the Father’s heart.
5)      Let us pray for Teachers that have spent hours with You, Lord, looking to You for understanding of Your Word. Let the teaching mantle fall upon them to rightly divide the Word of God.
6)      Lord, raise up Prophets that hear from You and are full of boldness to proclaim and decree Your Word. Let us pray for a school of the prophets, where there is an open heaven for men and women of God hear from the Lord.  May they have an open door to stand up in the churches to not only edify the churches with a clear Word from God but to speak out against sin and rebuke the devil to flee.
7)      Let us pray for the Evangelist to go forth and proclaim the salvation message. Lord raise up men and women that will have hearts that burn for the lost.
8)      Lord, raise up seasoned men that have walked close to You, that have proven their service to the church and have the wisdom to oversee Your works in Albania. Let the Apostolic anointing be evident in their lives. May the Albanian Christians show them the proper respect.
9)      Let the day come when the Albanian church will be seen as mature and abounding in the things of God.
>
10)   The report is that the Muslims in Albania are not devout to their religion. That means they should be easier to reach. Let us pray for evangelism to go out to the Muslims in Albania. Open a door Lord that no one can shut. (About 63% of Albania is Muslim)

A very important date is coming soon; Balkan Prayer Day 2012  -  Christians and intercessors that love the Balkans have set aside this coming September 2nd to pray for the Balkan countries. Read more at http://www.balkannetworks.org/balkan-prayer-day-2012/about-the-day/

Pray for Turkey

Asia Minor (Turkey) was once the center of Christianity. From the church in Antioch, mission outreaches went north into Asia Minor and had great success proclaiming Jesus to the Greek and pagan idol worships. Then starting in the 11th century the Seljuk Turks from Central Asia begin to move in through conquest. They had embraced Islam so they slowly drove the Christian culture out, usually at the point of a sword. There was a backlash from European Nobles and the organized church. They sent forth the Crusades with the main objective of recapturing the Holy Land. The Crusades were defeated and the final conquest was marked by the fall of Constantinople (modern Istanbul) in 1453. This was a massive blow to Christendom, and the Ottoman Turks thereafter were free to advance into Europe without an adversary to their rear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_of_Constantinople

Now in the modern age, Turkey is a solid 99% Islamic nation. Having a population of 75 million people, Turkey has an estimated 100,000 Christians and only about 7,000 are evangelical.

   1)       Let us pray for this vast amount of people that do not know Jesus as savior.
  2)      There is a serious concerted effort of intercessory groups praying for Turkey. Lord, we ask that You encourage them daily with direction, favor and most of all Your presence. Show these dedicated intercessors Your plans for Turkey. Help them to raise up Houses of Prayer in the vital cities and ports of entry. Lord, we ask that these houses of prayer have an open heaven where revelation flows freely.
  3)     Let us pray for the Christian tent-maker, marketplace ministers the Lord has sent to Turkey. Open the market place positions where they can apply Biblical solutions to business problems.
  4)      As technology spreads out across Turkey may many Turks login to Gospel Internet sites.
  5)      Let us pray that the Gospel will be broadcast louder than Western humanism over radio, television and the internet.
  6)      Lord, raise up evangelist that have a burning heart for the Turkish people. Open the doors into the cities for these evangelist to proclaim the Gospel.
  7)      Let us pray for Turkish Facebook evangelist, keyboard evangelist with zeal to reach Turkey.

Please leave a Comment or Reaction so we will know you prayed.

Pray for Slovenia

Week of July 30 - Aug. 5, 2012

Tromostovje –is three bridges that cross the Ljubljanica River, which connects the historical, medieval part of the capital with its new, modern counterpart. Bridges make passage over difficult waters possible.

1)    Thinking of the Tromostovje (Three Bridges) in Ljubljana, Slovenia, let us pray for safe passage of the Gospel through Slovenia. Three bridges, like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit moving through the land to bring blessings. Three bridges that can transfer the sacrifices of former Christians into a blessing for the present generation.
2)    Lord, let bridges be built in the spirit that will connect Christians that have a passion for the Gospel. Let us pray for unity among churches and ministries in Slovenia.
3)    Let us pray that walls and barriers between churches would be broken down. Let there be reconciliation and forgiveness between pastors and ministers. May the Church in Slovenia speak with one voice, in the language of Love.
4)    There are many towns and villages in Slovenia that do not have an evangelical church. Lord we ask for church planters to be raised up. Lord, show the Slovenian churches how to multiply not divide.
5)    Pray for the Lord to raise up individuals and families to go into the forsaken villages and share Jesus with people there. Lord, we want to see Your Word cover the land.

Matthew 5:14,16 NIV “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Here at Praying for the Balkans, Project we believe in the “Seven Mountains of Influence”: family, business, media, religion, education, arts/entertainment and government, which the Lord is revealing to the Church. He is asking us to go into these spheres and be the light.

6)    Pray for the financial health of Slovenia. Banks in Slovenia are suffering from miss-managed loans and companies filing for bankruptcy. (Reported in Bloomberg BusinessWeek)
7)    There has been a dynamic drop in exports from Slovenia and this hurts the gross national product. Pray for the business sector that it would be influenced by Christian principles. Lord, make it possible for Christians to go into business and bring in problem solving concepts.
8)    In praying for the Church’s influence in business, may those saints anointed for this mission know their commission comes from the Lord. Make them an example of His Kingdom in the marketplace.

Pray for Serbia

Psalms 112:9
He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His horn will be exalted with honor.

I remember when I was living in Serbia (Yugoslavia) 25 years ago and the ministers and people I meet that had a burden for that country. Not only do I remember men and women that came from abroad, but local pastors and church workers. I remember those men and women that had a passion for lost souls. I think of how they sacrificed to do what they could for the people of Serbia.

  1)      Truly Lord you will reward those people that gave of themselves for Serbia over the years. Some are now in the Lord’s presence. Those still serving, may they be abundantly blessed spiritually and materially.  May they know the joy of having the Lord’s presents daily.
  2)      Thank You, Lord, for the ministries that have remained and have grown. We ask for wisdom to be granted to pastors and leaders.
There are reports of pastors in Serbia coming together in unity. This is truly an answer to prayer.
  3)      Lord, we pray for continued unity among the pastors. May they see that unity disrupts the enemy’s plans.
  4)      We pray for the finances of the churches. Release the joy of giving in the people’s hearts. Lord, help the pastors to stay full-time in ministry and not have to take secular jobs.
  5)      Lord, we pray for the marketplace in Serbia. Send the Christians out into the marketplace with joy. We actually pray that Christians will dominate the marketplace. Lord, move Christians into key positions in government and non-government institutions.
  6)      Let us pray for the women of Serbia. May a witness go out into the market place designed to touch the hearts of the women.
  7)      The Serbian woman works hard for her family. May the churches gear up to minister to the needs of women. May they be appreciated into God’s Kingdom.
  8)      Summer youth camps are an important evangelical tool. Many of Serbia’s present ministers came to know Jesus in a summer camp. Holy Spirit, we ask for a special setting apart of every young person that attends a camp this summer. Every seed that is planted in their hearts, may it come to full growth. Oh, Holy Spirit, guard them from negative peer-pressure in their culture.
  9)      Let us pray for the youth pastors, may they have the time and the passion to minister to the youth.  May discipleship be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Pray for Romania

Week of July 16-22,2012

Earlier this year Zuzanna and I were introduced by email to a man who has given a lot of time and resources to shipping relief items into Romania; clothing, food, medicine, medical devices, etc. This past weekend Zuzanna and I plus a couple that have been our mentors, Dale and Linda Hood, drove down to Louisiana to meet him. It was a pleasure to meet Johnny Huffman and his wife Sissy. To hear the stories of how God provided the relief items, how the finances came in to ship containers, to see their warehouse and how they process the relief items was just amazing. Over and over they gave glory to God as they told of miracle after miracle. It is amazing what God will do through those that are willing to go the extra mile.

Matthew 5:41

And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

Johnny Huffman has shipped 71 containers of relief items to Romania in the past 15 years. He even sent a tractor one time. These things were not sent to the government but mainly to Romanian churches and ministries to be given to the Romanian people in the name of Jesus.

1) Let us celebrate Johnny and Sissy Huffman for their loving hearts. (By the way, their main ministry is taking care of orphans and they presently have ten children) Lord, we ask for your continual blessings upon their lives.

2) Johnny is planning to ship another container to Romania in October. Let us pray for the contents, finances for shipping, and an overall covering of angels to make sure each item gets to a soul in need.

3) For this planned container, there is a need for winter coats. Let us pray that there would be an abundance of coats donated.

4) Of all the Balkan countries, the people of Romania have opened their hearts to the Gospel more than others. Lord, we ask that You continue to pour out Your blessings on Romania.

5) Although God is blessing Romania in many ways, there are still many villages without an evangelical church. Let us pray that many will go into all the villages and share Jesus with the poor, hurting and lost.

6) Let us pray for Christian radio and television in Romania. May finances come forth for the stations to be setup. Let there be managers and owners that really love the Lord and can hear His voice. May preachers and teachers see the importance of proclaiming the Gospel over the air-ways.

7) Let us also pray for the Internet and the development of Christian websites. Let us believe for Romanian websites where people brag about what God has done for them and salvation is presented.

8) Let us pray for a major ministry that will incorporate the above technologies to reach those that speak Romanian.

Pray for Montenegro 7-9-12

~ Pray for Montenegro ~

Week of July 9-15, 2012

In April when we prayed for Montenegro, one of our directives was to pray against cronyism and corruption in the government.

IN THE NEWS: OSCE Chairmanship representative, in Podgorica, welcomes Montenegro’s reform progress

As OSCE [Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe] reported, in a meeting with Montenegro’s Foreign Minister Milan Rocen, she [Minister for European Affairs Lucinda Creighton] discussed OSCE support to the country in democratization, rule of law, media freedom, and combating high-level corruption and organized crime.

“We urge Montenegro to do more in the fight against high-level corruption and organized crime and to ensure full respect for fundamental rights and freedoms. These are priorities of the OSCE in the country and I am pleased that we are working on addressing these issues together,” she said.

1) We thank You, Lord for beginning to deal with the corruption in Montenegro.

2) Lord, we just ask that the people of Montenegro would be able to do business and go to court without having to pay someone off for favor.

3) Human lust and greed is born into the heart of every man and can only be tamed by a power greater than himself. Thank You Lord that You have a solution: Your awesome love. Lord, let the message of Your great redemptive love be heard in Macedonia.

4) One of the ways of spreading God’s love is through summer youth camps. May this be a year when the camps planned by the churches in Montenegro are bigger and better than they have ever been.

5) Lord, we pray that You would release the provisions for these youth camps.

6) May the churches reach out to the communities’ un-churched youth and be able to give these children scholarships.

7) May volunteers come from other countries to help with the camps in Montenegro.

8) Let us pray for speakers that will speak the truth to the youth about sin and its destructive results, about God’s forgiveness and bring them into the joy of salvation.

Psalm 35:9
And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; It shall rejoice in His salvation.

Pray for Macedonia 7-2-2012

Pray for Macedonia
Week of July 2-8,2012

Acts 2:  38- 40 (NKJV) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off —for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

1)      I read these verses and knew I needed to pray for evangelist to be sent and raised up in Macedonia. Let us pray to the Lord for the ministry of evangelism.
2)      Pray for evangelism to not merely be taught in the Macedonian churches but that it would be acted upon. Street evangelism, mass evangelism, radio evangelism, internet evangelism, neighbor to neighbor, family to family may the Good News be proclaimed.
3)      May the Lord expose the sin of this “corrupt generation” and call many Macedonians unto salvation.

Luke 8: 11-15
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.  Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.  But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.  Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.  But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

4)      As the Good News goes forth and many are saved, may there be great celebrations when they are baptized.
5)      Lord, we ask that You protect the seeds. I can’t help but believe that as we fervently pray for the mission field, God causes the ground to be “good ground”.
6)      Lord, You know men’s hearts and how they will receive. May the Macedonian Christians enjoy sowing the seeds and watch as the Lord brings increase.
7)      Holy Spirit, we cry out for Your fire to come and dwell in Your people in Macedonia. Some say Macedonia is the heart of the Balkans, may the heart catch on fire for Jesus.

In my research I am finding there are investments coming into Macedonia because they have created sound economic policies. The culture is modernizing.

8)      Modernization can have positive and negative effect.  Lord, we ask for Your protection of Macedonia. Lord, draw well-intended investors. Let us pray for Christian based businesses to invest.
9)      It is believed that the gray-market business in Macedonia is 40% of the economy, which can breed corruption. Lord, we pray for the exposure of those involved in dishonest trade.
10)  With a rate of 29% unemployment, let us pray for the Christians in Macedonia to be blessed with jobs.
11)  May the Christians bring their gifting to the market place. Lord, inspire them with inventions and successful methods of commerce.
12)  We pray also for Christians in the Macedonian government. Lord, open doors of influence.

Please leave a Comment or Reaction so we will know you Prayed.
