Pray for Serbia

Week of Feb. 16-22, 2015

< Please Notice Prayer Needs for European Initiative - Balkans in Left Column.

In the NEWS: ZAGREB -- Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated on Sunday that he and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic had "fruitful talks on all open issues."

[This] ranged "from missing persons to the position of refugees and the treatment of Serbs in Croatia," Tanjug [news agency] reported him as saying.

Vucic told Tanjug after the meeting that they discussed the issue of missing persons on which Grabar Kitarovic insisted, and also the position of refugees and the treatement of President of the Serb National Council Milorad Pupovac and Serbs in Croatia, which were the issues that the Serbian delegation insisted on.

“I believe we had a good meeting,” he said.

Vucic said that the two sides agreed to continue to cooperate, stressing that it is important for the two countries to build up more trust and respect.

“That would be good for the future of both countries,” Vucic said.

Vucic on Sunday attended the inauguration of Croatia's new president.

"Extended hand"
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated on Sunday that he expects to have a good cooperation with Croatia's new President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, adding that he came to Zagreb with a message of peace and a wish for Belgrade and Zagreb to establish and show more mutual respect and trust.

1)    The presence of Prime Minister Vucic at the inauguration of Croatia’s new President Kitarovic was a huge step in the repairing of past atrocities committed by both nations. This is a step in the healing of Serbia, Croatia and the whole of the Balkans.
2)    Let us pray that this hand extended to Croatia would be sincere on the part of both nations.
3)    Let us celebrate the timely forgiveness extended between the Evangelicals in Serbia and Croatia shortly after the 90s’ war. We pray that a full trust and love would flow freely between the Serbian and Croatian houses of faith.
4)    Pray for continued steps toward the healing of Serbia in their relations with the Balkan nations.
5)    Lord, we ask You for an open door to peace between Serbia and Albania. Pray that the haters would be silenced.

In April Ballet Magnificat, a Premier Christian Ballet Company, will perform in Belgrade, Serbia. Ballet Magnificat dances with such elegance and grace that God’s grace is shown forth. This event is being organized by European Initiative Balkans, in order to bless the Christians of Serbia and display the excellence of arts in God’s Kingdom.

In 2014, Ballet Magnificat conducted four performances in Zagreb, Croatia and the result was beyond our expectations. We saw many deeply challenged in their beliefs. Also another remarkable effect was the unity among the churches that volunteered as translators, helpers and one on one witnesses themselves. On of the key results of these performances and those of similar events have been, that they help elevate the public’s perception of non-Catholic Christian churches.

Prayer Points:
6)    Pray that the Lord will use Ballet Magnificat to touch the city of Belgrade and Serbia. May many, Christians and non-Christians, see the excellence that can spring forth from those whose talents are committed to the Lord.
7)    Pray that even now the Holy Spirit would begin preparing the hearts of those that will attend. Let’s ask the Lord for many lost to attend.
8)    Let us pray for the core team led by Zuzanna organizing the event as they prepare the venues, media advertising and mobilize the churches to get engaged.
9)    The enemy will not rest easy seeing Christian performing arts take center stage in Belgrade. Let us pray for a hedge of protection for the event, organizers, dancers, etc.
10)     This event is geared to bless the city of Belgrade, as the funds form the ticket sales will be donated to a children's hospital. Please pray that these tools would open wide the hearts of city officials and help elevate the publics perception of non-Orthodox, Christian entities.

Pray for SERBIA

Week of Nov. 17-23, 2014

A message from Jerry and Zuzanna :
We are so grateful to each of you as you join us in standing in the gap for the Balkan nations week after week, for 6 years now. This prayer blog has evolved through the years and it is evolving still. Starting with this week and going forward, we will have a section in the left column for European Initiative Balkans prayer needs which will give each of you an opportunity to pray specifically for our ministry as European Initiatives Balkans Base Leaders. In this region called the Balkans, one becomes very acutely aware of ones dependence on prayer. We believe our effectiveness hinges on the prayers of intercessors like you. We will share upcoming events and various needs. Ministry Needs, Plans & Prayer will appear in the Column to the left of this prayer directive. Thank you for taking the time to pray over our needs in addition to the country we feature each week.

Friday morning (11/14/2014) I attended a prayer meeting and the Lord’s presence was in our mist. Although this prayer meeting was in Zagreb there was an intercessor there from Serbia. There was a point in our prayer time when we went deep in intercession for Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. God has a divine plan for Serbia; may we be found worthy, that the Lord would share that plan with us.

Prayer Points:
1)    The Serbian people are a proud people and nationalism runs very deep. Oh, Lord we want to know Your heart for the people of Serbia. We pray for a great host of Serbs to be standing before the throne when the books are opened. May they hold their heads high because they fought the good fight and held on to God’s Word.
2)    Let us once again pray for the capitol city of Belgrade. Close to 1.5 million people and only about 1,000 Christians. Lord raise up intercessors to cry for that city. Raise up ministries that will pour resources into the city.
3)    Lord we pray for houses of prayer to be birth with an open heaven where the Holy Spirit dwells constantly. Lord, draw together those that have a burden for Belgrade.
4)    Lord we lift up the Christians in Serbia. May they choose to fear the Lord and submit to the teaching of the Holy Spirit so they may prosper and their descendants establish wisdom in the land. Let us believe for strong Christian families that are grounded in principles of the Gospel. May their descendants inherit a righteous Serbia.
5)    Though the vision of a righteous land seems distant now, let us pray that the Christians will do what is right in all things. Purify Your people so the vileness of hypocrisy will be wiped away.
6)    Let us continue to pray for those bound by alcohol and drugs. Heroin is cheap compared to other countries and easily acquired, therefore there are a large number of drug addicts. Hope is the answer, and Jesus gives hope.
7)    Lord, release an extra measure of grace and healing in the alcohol and drug centers in Serbia. We pray for restoration in these broken lives. Let not the enemy steal their destinies.
8)    Let us be burdened for the pastors of Serbian churches. May they stand strong and not be weary in well-doing. We must hold up their arms because the battles are hard. May Psalms 25: 12-13 be their portion. “Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.  He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth.

2 Cor. 4: 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

9)   Lord we join You in commanding the “light to shine out of darkness”. Take the present darkness and transform it into Light. We command the bad to be turned to good. Let us speak boldly to the enemy to take his hands off Serbia.

Pray for Serbia

Week of Aug. 11-17, 2014

The following clip is from an older news article, however it still takes us to prayer for the Serbian government.

SERBIA’S political landscape is not the same any more. On March 16th Aleksandar Vucic (pictured), the leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), won an overwhelming electoral victory, shattered the opposition.

This means the new prime minister, Aleksandar Vucic, will need to work to fulfill his promises to fight corruption, get the economy straight and join the EU by 2020. Regarding Kosovo, Vucic recently said that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will continue and that talks are always the best option. He does have a questionable past and more information can be found in Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksandar_Vu%C4%8Di%C4%87.

Prayer Points:
1)    Let us pray for the Serbian government. Their recent history has been that of corruption including assassinations. We just simply ask for justice for the people.
2)    Please pray for Vucic and his new government as they transition into power. He ran his campaign on promises to fight corruption; may he be held accountable to those promises.
3)    Mr. Vucic is known to be an acute businessman, let’s pray that the grace from God would flow through him and give him wisdom to help the stagnated Serbian economy.
4)    It is always important when praying for government official to pray for their advisers. Let us pray that Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will be surrounded by men and women of wisdom.

In the News: Serbia and Bosnia hit by new round of deadly flooding
Thursday, August 7th, 2014 By Tom Revell

Severe flooding in Serbia and Bosnia has killed at least one person, just three months after record-breaking floods killed more than 50 people and displaced thousands.
Heavy rain has caused widespread flooding as rivers burst their banks across the Balkans, with Croatia also affected.

4)    These present floods are not comparable to the floods in May of this year, which was of epic proportions, but we should be reminded to pray for all the victims. Let us ask the Lord for special grace as they rebuild their homes and lives.
5)    The recent flooding has devastated so many lives and has been such a tragic and traumatic event which forever changed the life and wellbeing of many thousands of individuals. Many are battling post traumatic stress disorders, depression, suicide. Pray for a blanket of peace and sound minds to prevail.
6)    In Obrenovac, near the capital of Belgrade, where the May floods did their greatest destruction, a ministry was established to help the victims. This is a pioneering work of the Christian Fellowship - Church in Novi Sad, Serbia.  Far as we know this is the first evangelical work of any kind established in this city. We visited the ministry just a few days after they moved in to their building in Obrenovac and we were very impressed with the work they are doing. Lord, we ask your blessings on this work as they minister to the physical and emotional needs of the people.
7)    This ministry plans to eventually form an evangelical church for the city. Lord, we ask that in Obrenovac there would arise a church of humble people that know the depth of Your grace of recovery.

Pray for Serbia

Week of May 19-25, 2014

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR SERBIA!
(Protestant Evangelical Alliance of Serbia asks for your prayers. Pray for the people of Serbia, Bosnia, and all who were affected by the floods.)

Dear friends,

We would like to ask you for your urgent and fervent prayers for Serbia. We have had heavy rainfalls for 3 days now, with the amount of rain equaling 3 month quantities (the samesituation is in Bosnia and Herzegovina). It caused local rivers overflowing (rising even to 4 meters in just 1 day) in majority of Serbian towns and cities, leaving thousands of citizens' homes and land flooded, their livestock and domestic animals drowned:-(. People were completely unprepared for this and in shock. So far, there are 5 casualties, but the numbers are not complete unfortunately. A massive storm churned river waters and triggered landslides across the country, leaving roads and railways underwater. Some motorways and roads are blocked, bridges torn down, and some towns in Serbia are still cut off from the civilization. This is the worst flooding ever in the history of Serbia. The Serbian government declared a state of emergency and natural disaster yesterday..

As we are writing this, we know for sure that 7.520 people were evacuated until this morning,135,000 homes are without electricity, 19 towns are flooded. The critical is the town of Obrenovac (suburb of Belgrade) which is being evacuated in total as it is 90% flooded. It has around 18 000 people in addition to be evacuated.

Another critical municipality is Sabac, in western Serbia (around 120 thousand people). It is close to the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the great danger is that the river Sava overflows during the night and tomorrow and endangers a huge population. At this point, over 3000 volunteers are traveling towards Sabac from all over Serbia to help the exhausted police forces, the army, the firemen fill the sand bags and try to stop the river overflowing.

Very difficult situation is in other towns like Lazarevac, Valjevo, Paraćin, Smederevska Palanka, Svilajnac, Petrovac na Mlavi. Majority of these towns don't have water or electricity or both. For a small and financially struggling country like Serbia, this sort of thing has a Katrina-like impact:
We would be thankful to you to pray for the following:

1.That God prevents rivers from more overflowing and the rainfall stops (especially it is critical for the town of Sabac and Obrenovac tonight), but also others.
2. That all the people are safely evacuated, with no more casualties.
3. That enough funds are raised in near future to make up for the losses people faced and these are huge (some are left without everything as their houses are lost in landslides and land, as their only source of income, is flooded).
4. For enough food, clothes, blankets and other needed items for thousands who are placed in schools, hospitals, hotels and other premises until the crisis is over.
5. For enough technical equipment to help pump the water from the flooded houses all over Serbia (EU, Russia, Israel already sent some help).
6. That God protects us from infections (in water and in food) due to animal decomposition which is currently underway.
7. All the crops in the flooded areas are completely devastated, which will hugely impact fragile Serbian economy. Pray for God's miracle and grace in this area and for complete restoration.
8. The flooding of bigger rivers is to be expected, so pray for the protection of rivers Sava and Danube.
9. It will take months for people to be able to start living normally, pray for God's mercy and protection and wisdom of the government officials in how to help and what to do. The damage is probably millions of euros.
Following are some links showing a dramatic situation:

Feel free to share this email with your churches, home groups, forward to your friends and cover us in prayers. Thank you so much for your support. It is priceless.

God bless you

In the News: 2 Drown in Serbia as Floods Hit Across Balkans
BELGRADE, Serbia May 15, 2014 (AP)

Two people drowned in Serbia and the country declared a national emergency Thursday as rain-swollen rivers across the Balkans flooded roads and bridges, shut down schools and cut off power. Hundreds of people had to be evacuated.

In Serbia and neighboring Bosnia, meteorologists said the rainfall was the most since measuring started 120 years ago. Belgrade authorities say the average rainfall of a two-month period hit the city in just 40 hours.
"What we are facing is the biggest water catastrophe in Serbia's history," Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said as his government appealed for help from the European Union, Russia and neighboring countries.
Surging water coursed through towns and villages, overflowing across streets and into homes, sweeping bridges off their moorings. Sodden hills crumbled into landslides. Dozens of buses and cars were stranded on flooded roads and two main north-south railway lines in Serbia were impassable. http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/woman-drowns-serbia-floods-23726450

I received the following email from Greg and Jelena Sivulka, faithful prayer partners in Serbia:

The past few days, we have had a cyclone over this country that has brought more rain than there has ever been since they started recording rainfall levels 120 years ago!  Some cities and towns have been completely flooded.  There have been electrical shortages and there's a possibility that the main power plant may have to shut down most of its operations due to the flooding.  Just about an hour ago we just received word from a reliable source that the tap water has become contaminated.  I went to the store and joined the crowds of people buying bottled water.  What a catastrophe!

Fortunately, in our city, Novi Sad, no areas have had to be evacuated yet, although several houses have been flooded.  A state of emergency has been declared in the country and thousands of community service workers and volunteers have been working round the clock to reinforce riverbanks with sandbags.  The rain just continues to fall, but they say it should be calming down sometime this weekend.

Please keep us in prayer!

P.S.  Here's an article with photos that will give you a better idea of what's going on:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-27439139

Prayer Points:
1.    Let us pray for those suffering from this flooding in Serbia and Bosnia.
2.    Pray for the families of those that lost their lives due to the flooding.
3.    Pray for those that have had property damage, being overwhelmed by water.
4.    In the long run, pray that the Churches would take a lead in rescuing, caring for and over the months ahead, restoring families back to a normal existence.
5.    Truly it is a time upon the earth when we are seeing unnatural things happening in nature. Lord, help the Serbian people to look beyond the present tragedies and have hope for the future.
6.    This flooding tragedy will compound the already financial problems in Serbia. Let us pray for hope to supernaturally spring forth and a real “roll up our sleeves and go to work” attitude.

Ecclesiastes 3:10-12 (NLT)  I have seen the burden God has placed on us all.  Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

Pray for Serbia

Week of Jan. 27 - Feb. 2, 2014

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

In the News: ‘Belgrade Jews – Life and the Holocaust’ exhibition opened
BELGRADE – The exhibition entitled “Belgrade Jews – Life and the Holocaust” (Beogradski Jevreji – Zivot i Holokaust) opened in the Gallery of the Historical Archives of Belgrade late on Friday to mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27.

Opening the exhibition, Prime Minister Ivica Dacic underscored that prejudice and hatred in Europe have deep roots and that they have to be countered by efforts aimed at reconciliation between nations and their joint future.

1)    Nearly seventy years later, Serbia is remembering their Jewish citizens that perished during World War II. This may not be done for spiritual reasons, nevertheless the Lord is pleased. Let us pray that everyone who visits the exhibition be touched and personally make a commitment to accept the slogan, “Never again”.
2)    During the Kosovo conflict the Serbian military was accused of genocide against the Albanians.  True or not, we know the disrespect of other people groups comes from extreme nationalism. Let us pray for Serbia to develop a healthy nationalism that brings out their God given strengthens to bless other nationalities.
3)    Serbia will likely play a key role in changing the hearts of many Balkan nations. What I hear the Lord saying is, “When a redemptive voice comes out of Belgrade the other Balkan nations will be amazed and humbled.” Oh, Lord pour out Your Spirit all across Serbia.
4)    Serbia needs revival, and for that Serbia needs revivalists, men and women that are broken for their countrymen. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit would raise up evangelists for Serbia.
5)    Let us pray for the evangelical churches of Serbia. May they be beacons of hope who are willing to pay any price necessary in order to see revival. May the Holy Spirit have the freedom to move through each congregation with instruction and power.
6)    May their pastors be sensitive to the needs of the people.  Let the pastors always hear from God and deliver fresh revelation.
7)    So that the Tabernacle of David can be raised up in Serbia, let us pray for powerful prayer warriors and anointed worship leaders to come forth.
8)    Lord, we ask for children’s ministry leaders that know how to bring the children to Your lap. Lord, seal their minds with a Biblical worldview that can’t be shaken by the secular.
9)    Let us pray for the schools in Serbia to be totally open to the Gospel. Let us pray that Christians would prepare themselves to teach in the public schools.

Pray for Serbia

Week of Oct. 28 - Nov. 3, 2013
We are praying for Serbia this week and I am blessed to have Pastor Viktor Sabo form Serbia staying in my home. He is not only a pastor but an apostolic leader in the country. I so appreciate Viktor’s valuable insight into this weeks ‘Prayer for the Balkans’ project.

1)    Pray for the visitation of the Lord, that the people would see His glory – Lord, we ask that the bowls of intercession for Serbia would spill over and reach Your throne. May a stream of blessing flow from heaven to Serbia.
2)    There are many effects of war, pain and apathy - Let us pray for hope, the Lord’s hope, to arise. Lord, reverse the effects of war, struggles of life and hopelessness. May blessings of economic recovery, social wellbeing and God’s redemptive political justice be released for Serbia.
3)    Pray for a change in the atmosphere – Jesus, we know that when You implement Your plan, a divine peace will follow. Let us pray for a new generation to arise that can rise above the heartaches of the past. Lord foster humane dignity in the new generation and  restore hope.
4)    Pray for repentance, humility, believers first2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Christians, the Lord’s people, can bring blessings upon the land through repentance. May a holy fear of God be proclaimed in the churches. May Christians rise from repentance and walk in forgiveness.
5)    There needs to be reconciliation of leaders and unity – Let us pray for unity among Christian leaders in Serbia. There is only one kingdom, His Kingdom; a pastor or leader does not have his own kingdom. Division is rooted deep in the culture, it is spiritual. Let us pray that the spirit of division be broken and replaced with the spirit of unity.
6)    Recognize the destination of the nation, war in heavenly places – There is a need in Serbia for leaders to understand God’s purposes for the nation. 1 Chronicles 12:32 “the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do,” Lord, raise up leaders that hear from You and know the spiritual needs of Serbia. Lord release Your strategy to meet those needs. May these have heaven’s authority to proclaim the will of the Lord for the country.
7)    Let us pray for new wine skins, new springs, break old blockages – Lord, we ask for new springs of fresh water to move through the churches and fill new wine skins. May those man-made dams be broken down that have held back the streams of blessing.
8)    Pray for this young generation to stand, to be free from the fear of man – Fear and fear of man is a snare holding back the church in Serbia from overcoming. Lord, we ask that boldness arise through the youth that will break the fear of man in the churches. May the older saints recognize Jesus moving in the youth and dare not criticize or try to limit. It is time for the older generation to celebrate how God is moving through the youth. Let the youth be a vessel in changing Serbia. For a good teaching on the Fear of man go to: http://gatewaypeople.com/sermons/174786
9)    Pray for revival among the Orthodox – Talking about old wineskins, let us pray for renewal to come to the Serbian Orthodox Church. They can move the hearts of the Serbian people.
10)    Pray for Belgrade, a sleeping giant. His power to come to the churches, the city’s population is 1.5 million with only 700 evangelical Christians – Belgrade the capital city of Serbia is a very complex and hard city. Many intellectuals left the country leaving a vacuum in political decision quality, but also an imbalance in culture and development.  It is the center of the country but there are very few Christians. Belgrade needs dedicated intercessors that will consistently stand in the gap.

Pray for Serbia

Week of April 15-21, 2013

I want to bring you Praise Reports from Serbia.

Belgrade (Pastor Savic): After teaching on “Relationships Our Daily [Bread]”, Pastor Savic’s church grew to 115 not counting children.

Pastor Savic writes, “Evangelism is still our priority. Every Saturday we organize evangelism at the hotel in downtown Belgrade that is attended by 20 to 30 students. We also started a Bible group every Thursday at the Student dorm .”

Pastors Nebojsa and Gordana Savic have a Family Counseling ministry where they are directing couples in God’s marriage plans. They say, “At the moment we have eight couples, three children and two individuals for counseling.” Because of the work they are doing to help marriages, the news papers and television have interviewed them many times.

Novi Sad (Pastors Danny and Vera Kuranji), they write:

 Dear Friends,

This is too good not to share right away!

Last Saturday we had 14 people baptized! Praise and joy followed each one as they came out of the water. Touching testimonies of changed lives have moved us to tears. Changed lives and changed destinies is what Jesus went to the cross for! Thank you, Jesus!

Four young men from the rehab center were in the group, they are in final phase of rehabilitation (more were interested, but we have decided to limit to those who are in center longer than 8 months). Free from heroin, free from sin, adopted in God’s family and excited to be baptized!

Each soul is precious to Him. Thank you for praying for us and we do hope that you will rejoice and praise Him for teenagers, young men and all others that you see on the picture. (picture above)

Love and thanks for your partnership,

Vera & Danny

There are many other good things happening in Serbia; Pastor Sabo in the north and their work with the Roma (Gypsies) and the refugees. There are doors of ministry opening in southern Serbia.

    1)      Thank You, Lord Jesus for the moving of Holy Spirit in Serbia. We pray for daily increase just like in the book of Acts.
    2)      Lord, we pray for the day when Serbia will be a blessing to all the nations surrounding it and even beyond. Let us declare over Serbia the release of Blessing from on high.
    3)      Thank You Lord, for the salvations in Novi Sad, Serbia. Lord, we ask for a seal to be put on each person’s heart that has followed You in baptism. May they see miracles in their lives, transforming them daily.
    4)      Let us pray for the drug and alcohol rehab in Novi Sad. Each client that is there, may they be overwhelmed by Jesus’ love. Be with the counselors and leaders; Give them patients to wait on the transformation in each life. In Prayer, give them hope for the clients. May they all grow in Faith daily.
    5)      Oh, Lord, I know You love Belgrade. Thank You for Pastors Nebojsa and Gordana Savic. Belgrade is a really hard city. Lord, we ask You to protect them and their family daily. Their hearts are totally Yours, make sure they have everything they need.

I see (in the Spirit) a tent set up outside the city of Belgrade. The Lord is in the tent and His army stands at attention in line with the tent. Angels are entering the tent and then exiting with orders in their hands. They go among the ranks selecting their platoon or squad. They lift their swords to the heavens, cry “Holy is the Lamb” and then fly off to do battle in the city.

    6)      I have to believe that these angels are carrying out the prayers of the intercessors. As we pray, the Lord hears and an angel or assistant writes them out. The Lord places His seal of approval on the order and it is carried out. Lord, do not pull back from the city!
    7)      Let us pray for an army of saints to hear the call to go to Belgrade. Equip them with Your Love. No one can argue with pure Love from above.

Special Prayer: In most of the Balkan nations there are youth camps planned for the summer months. Many present day leaders in the Balkans testify of meeting Jesus in these camps. Pray that this summer many would give their lives to Jesus.

 Week of Oct. 8-14, 2012

Serb hero fishes the desperate from Danube, [from] suicide
BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — On a bright autumn day, Renato Grbic was out fishing on the Danube with his brother when he heard a big splash. At first, he thought somebody had thrown something off the bridge.
Then he saw a man flailing in the water.

"We hurried and pulled the man out," Grbic recalls. "I remember telling him: Such a glorious day and you want to kill yourself!"

It was the first time Grbic saved a life. From that day 15 years ago, his own life would never be the same. The bright-eyed, tattooed restaurant owner from a shabby industrial zone on the outskirts of Belgrade has rescued 25 people who tried to kill themselves by jumping off the tall bridge over the Danube.

This is a good story and a sad story.

1) Lord, we thank You for this man being in the place he is in. He is a modern day ‘good Samaritan’. Pray for this man that he would get to know Jesus, the One who has saved him and all mankind.
2) If you go on to read the full story, Mr. Grbic says these people are mainly just lonely. Let us pray for those that have no hope and are lonely in Serbia. Let the door open for the Gospel to come in to them.

Let us celebrate another hero in Serbia.

BEIJING (AP) — Top-seeded Novak Djokovic extended his perfect record at the China Open when he defeated third-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in the final on Sunday.
Two weeks ago Novak Djokovic gave his name in support of Nick Vuicic, a minister of the Gospel that was born without arms or legs. He introduced Nick at two gatherings of 10,000 people in Belgrade and 8,000 in Novi Sad.
Pastor Daniel Kuranji of novi Sad says, “This is all we can say! Wow! Amazing event, amazing God!”

3) Lord, we just want to thank You for these gatherings and so many in Serbia getting to hear the Gospel. May the seeds planted be watered. Lead every precious soul to a Christian that can open the Word to them.
4) I do not know the condition of Novak Djokovic but let us ask the Lord to continue to bless him above his dreams. Lord, let not fame and fortune be a trap that clouds the grace You have for Novak.
5) Let us pray that Nick Vuicic’s ministry would continue to expand and he would see many come to the knowledge of Jesus. James 5:20 Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

BELGRADE -- Serbian Patriarch Irinej has urged Prime Minister Ivica Dačić to ban the upcoming gay Pride Parade.
[Patriarch] Irinej also called for the ban of a photo exhibit by Swedish artist Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin, which shows Jesus Christ dressed in women's clothing.

In a release submitted to Tanjug, the patriarch says the "tragicomic parade of shame" casts a heavy moral shadow on Belgrade, on Serbia's longstanding Christian culture and the dignity of the family, as the basic unit of humanity.

"I had not expected that this year I would again be forced to turn to you on behalf of the Serbian Orthodox Church, its members, who are the dominant majority in Serbia, and on behalf of numerous members of other religions, with the plea and demand that, by your authority as prime minister, you prevent the scandalous exhibit of photographs by Swedish artist Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin," Irinej wrote.

6) Let us thank the Lord that the Serbian Orthodox church is morally correct on this issue. Let us pray that the Orthodox in Serbia will speak out more on moral issues. (Speak out with love)
7) Let us pray for the media in Serbia to publish the truth about homosexuality. May they tell of the wrecked lives, despair, diseases and young deaths these miss-guided people go through.
8) Lord, we ask that You raise up a team to go unto this homosexual sub-culture in Serbia and love them like Jesus would.
9) Lord, help Serbia to stand strong in this decision to ban this parade. It seems the whole world is speaking against Serbia for not celebrating this deplorable life style. Thank Lord for that strong character in the Serbian people to stand up for what they believe. They will truly be courageous for the Lord when they have embraced the Gospel.

Pray for Serbia
Week of May-7-13,2012

Economic Headlines in Serbia

• Serbian currency continues its downward slide

• Serbian First-Quarter GDP Contracts 1.3%, Flash Estimate

• Also: 24 percent unemployment, a weak dinar, accusations of endemic corruption, and weak economic growth.

Sunday May 6th there was an election and the above facts weighted heavy on the outcome. If you have time read the following news article: Milosevic Party Emerges as Kingmaker

The final vote tally is not expected until Thursday May 10th. There will have to be a run-off election in a few weeks to discover the presidential victor. After talking with Christian friends from Serbia, it looks like the man they favor, Boris Tadic, will win but will have to make compromising appointments to obtain the votes needed.

1) Let us pray for the shakeout of this election. As Christians we are to pray for peace in the land and believe God to let righteousness rule.

2) Let us pray for the present president Boris Tadic. We pray that he stand firm for what is right.

3) Let us pray for the Serbian media as they report developments leading up to the run-off election. May truth be revealed. Secrets that are hidden, may they come to the surface.

4) Lord, most of all we pray that the Serbian people will hear/know the truth, even truth in politics. Lord, we also pray for rational thinking as the people analyze whom they should vote for. May they not be led astray by false hopes and emotional pleas.

Over the years I have found that a country usually gets the government they deserve. God is a just God whether a nation needs judgment or blessing. God does respond to the Church when they pray.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

1 Timothy 2:1-3
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

5) Let us pray for revival in Serbia. With less than 0.01% being evangelical Christian, Serbia is very dark and without Biblical understanding.

6) Let us pray for revival in the churches. May the Serbian Christians repent and be purged of sin so they will be a light to the hurting around them.

7) Lord, we ask for the Church worldwide to turn its focus on Serbia. Lord, send missionaries from the east and west. The physical country of Serbia is seeking financial investment from abroad, although this would be helpful, we ask for prayer investment and servants that just love the Serbian people.

Pray for Serbia Nov. 14-20, 2011

Pray for Serbia

 > Click Here > to see the video >
In August we had prayed for Nebojsa and Gordana Savic in Belgrade. The above video shows how God has prospered their work.

1)      Once again let us pray for this church in Belgrade, Serbia. May the Lord open doors of ministry. May the Lord send the lost to get saved but also helpers that will help disciple the new Christians.
2)     Lord, we pray You raise up “investor” for this ministry. Spiritually; intercessors that will stand in the gap. Givers; that will join the work in Belgrade through financial help.

News headline - "Islamic communities unification plan falls through”
BELGRADE -- The Serbian authorities refused to sign an agreement detailing the reconciliation of the two Islamic communities in Serbia, writes a Belgrade-based newspaper. http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2011&mm=11&dd=01&nav_id=77125

3)     The underlying motive of Islam is world domination with every nation being in bondage to Mohammad’s teaching. Lord, we pray that the Islamic leaders in Serbia would remain in confusion.
4)      There is a part of West Serbia that is called Sandzak, where there is a majority of Islamic believers. We pray for confusion in that area. May the true motives of their leaders be revealed. Let us pray that attendance in the Mosque would drop significantly. (Тhe name Sandžak derives from the Sanjak of Novi Pazar, a former Ottoman administrative district that existed until the Balkan Wars of 1912, whereas Raška was the name of a prominent Serbian Kingdom)
5)      Let us pray that the Lord would send a powerful witness into that area. Pray that the joy of the Lord would be released across that land. Lord raise up intercessors to plow the ground. Lord, send Your evangelist and pastors to plant seeds of righteousness.

 >> The first week of August, this year, we had prayed for the Serbia and Kosovo border. The following report is good news.

The agreement envisages joint Kosovo and Serbian customs points and it does not require Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence. The Kosovo government has agreed to have integrated control over the crossings with central Serbia, in accordance with the EU standards. http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2011&mm=11&dd=12&nav_id=77302
6)     Lord, we thank You for smoothing out relations between the Serbs and the Kosovars. You are a peacemaker, Lord. Although it may be hard to see with our eyes and understanding, but we pray that someday the Serbs and Kosovars will live peacefully together.
7)     Let us pray that the Christians in both Serbia and Kosovo would set an example by having fellowship with one another.
8)     Let us pray for Northern Serbia, the Vojvodina area. There has been much ministry in this area but there is much more needed. We thank the Lord for the Baptist and Assemblies of God for their many efforts and the fruit that has remained. There is a disunity problem among the pastors and churches. Let us pray that the curse of disunity would be lifted.
9)      I want to return to a past prayer. Back in March of this year the Lord gave me a mental vision and ask me to pray into the vision. I saw five intercessors praying for six pastors to raise up and release seven evangelist to declare the Kingdom of God in Serbia. (5-6-7)
It starts with the intercessors. Lord, bring those intercessors together in Your time.

Pray for Serbia

First let me share the following letter from a pastor in Serbia.

Hi Jerry!
Next year election is coming up in Serbia. It seems that the present democratic party will lost the majority. And more national radical parties will get the power. That will mean departing from the pro European course. That can mean more ethnic problems and tensions with Kosovo.
The people are confused and disappointed.
Serbia has to come to face its past and to change we need brokenness and humility.
Kosovo question is quenching the life out of the people and they are blind and don't know that.
Spiritually everything is shaking.
Praying for new churches for spirit of mission.
Bibles schools in the land.
Several top leading pastors has been divorced this year. We need mercy.

Blessing
Pastor V. Sabo, Subotica, Serbia

Also I recieved an email of a missionary family that has had to leave Serbia. I won’t give their name because of confidentiality at this point.

1) Let us pray for the political situation in Serbia. It would be a step backwards if the radical parties were to win. Let us pray that the radical camp would go into confusion. Let there be no unity within those parties that still hold hate in their hearts.
2) Lord, we ask You for the placement of godly people in the political process of Serbia.
3) There is corruption throughout the institutions in Serbia. Lord, we ask for exposure of those that prey on the weak. Lord, let the fruits of greed be bitter for them.

Job 7:6 (NKJV)
“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, And are spent without hope.

4) Many Serbs are suffering because of lack of hope. Just like Job, they see this world passing swiftly. Every day without hope is just another day of death. Let us pray that the people of Serbia would find hope.
5) Lord, we ask that You put into the hearts of Your intercessors a fire for Serbia. Lord, You are the only hope for that land, please rescue them. Lord, there was a time when You would have destroyed Your people Israel but Moses stood in the gap. Lord, please raise up intercessors for Serbia.
6) Let us pray for the reconciling of marriages in Serbia. Let us start at the ‘house of faith’ and ask for the reunion of these marriages Pastor Sabo mentioned. Let them return to their first love.
7) There is hope. I just read a report from Pastors Nebojsa and Gordana Savic in Belgrade. They are being given interview time by the secular tv and radio stations to share healthy solutions for marriage and family. Lord, we pray your hand be upon them and give them much wisdom.

Pray for Serbia

Serbia has been on a crooked path, this way and that way, let’s try this, let’s try that. When a plan gets hard to manage the Serb does not press on but blames someone else and tries something else; there was the Yugoslav dream, then Tito, and Milosevic was birthed, there was hope in Djindjic but he was killed.

1) Let us pray that Serbia will stop living in the past. Serbia can’t continue to blame Europe and the Turks for its problems. Let us pray that Serbia would get a vision for itself.
2) Serbia needs to take responsibility for its future and stop stumbling along like a drunken man. A drunk will lose his money and then lose his respect. Lord, help Serbia to look in the mirror and recognize its faults.
3) Lord, help Serbia to establish itself among Europe and among the nations.
4) Let us pray that Serbia would get busy developing a standard, a standard that will be respectively recognized by the nations. Help Serbia to stand on its own accomplishments.
5) There needs to be an attitude change. We pray that a proper alignment would come to Serbia. Pray that Serbia would reject the victim mentality and face up to its problems.
(The solution is not in the European Union; the EU is a trap. Although NATO was a humbling force, NATO is not to be surrendered to. Also Serbia can’t always look to Russia to be rescued.)
6) Let us pray that humility would come to the Serbian Orthodox Church. The SOC became a cultural institution long ago and needs to return to its first Love. Lord, purify that institution or let it fade into insignificant. The Serbian Orthodox Church has kept the Lord’s name but has no record of having moved in the Lord’s redemptive power.
7) There are many evangelical churches in Serbia moving in God’s power but they struggle with unity. Lord we pray for unity among the evangelical Christians.
8) I was in a prayer meeting a few weeks ago and we were praying for Serbia. The Lord showed me three things to pray for Serbia; The Lord said to pray for five intercessors that will pray for six pastors that will release seven evangelists in Serbia. Remember to pray for 5, 6 and 7 for Serbia. What I seen in the spirit was, five intercessors that start meeting and praying for the pastors of Serbia. The Lord will show them six pastors to focus their prayers on and those six pastors will get into unity and raise up seven evangelists that will spread out across Serbia preaching repentance and declaring that the Kingdom has come. Now let us pray for those five intercessors. (Dear praying saints, let the Lord show you this vision)
9) Lord, You know who those intercessors are. So burden their hearts for Serbia that they will give You no rest until those pastors come into unity. Lord release Boldness for this prayer.
Isaiah 62:6-7 “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” - KJV (You may want to read all of Isaiah 62)

Forgive me for coming down hard on Serbia but many times God could not bless Israel because of their “stiff necks”.

Please leave a comment or a responce so we will know you prayed.

Pray for SERBIA

The picture to the right is from the 90s and the Kosovo conflict. Many times this picture has been a point of motivation and inspiration for my prayers for Serbia. God wants to bring peace not rage to Serbia.

While praying and asking the Father how to pray for Serbia, I just felt like the pastors, their families and all the workers in the churches were very special to the Lord. Let us focus on those that give themselves for the Kingdom.

Psalm 132:4-5 “I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, Until I find a place for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
1. Many pastors and their families give of their time and resources to raise up a church. Many have to work a job and pastor at the same time.
a. Lord, we ask that their sacrifice not be forgotten.
b. Lord, hold them up when they become weary.
c. Keep them from the thief that comes to steal and plunder their resources and their health.
d. May they continue to be driven by the love for people, especially those in their city or village.

Psalm 132: 8-9 “Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priest be clothed with righteousness, And let Your saints shout for joy.”
2. Just as King David prayed:
a. Lord, rise upon the churches in Serbia that were planted by Your sons and daughters and dwell among them, letting Your ark of strength be in their mist.to secure them and the buildings they worship in.
b. May Your priest and pastors be clothed in righteousness, being model citizens that are worthy examples of the Lord in whom they repersent.
c. Lord, may Your Joy dwell in the hearts of the Serbian believers.

Psalm 133:1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
3. Notice the exclamation point at the end of the above verse:
a. Lord, keep the pastors and priest in Serbia in unity.
b. Show them they are the building blocks that hold up the country. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because God’s mercy was withdrawn. Mercy Lord, mercy for Serbia.
c. Let there be times of coming together were pastors can share their needs, fears, and visions.
d. Let there be fathers of the faith raised up. (1 Cor. 4:15 “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.”)

Prayer request from Pastors in Serbia.

From Pastor Viktor Sabo in Subotica, Serbia:
4. Pray for the leaders that they open up to each other because some leaders are going through severe problems due to the long isolation.
5.
Last week I visited a Christian TV station in Timisoara, Romania. They are producing 24 hours long program daily. I was a guest of the director. I spend 5 hours with him and was interviewed about the state of the church in Serbia. The goal was to raise interest and prayer support of the Romanians believers. His name is Tudor, a man I like very much. He offered his help for starting a Christian TV program in Serbian language. I have no idea about this but Arpad my son has a vision for this and some other brothers in Serbia. This can be thing to pray about. Let us pray for radio and television broadcast in Serbia. Let us pray for Tudor and the vision God has planted in his heart.
6.
I need very much a secretary beside me please pray that I can find someone.

From Pastor Daniel Kuranji in Novi Sad, Serbia:
7. prayer for the natural disasters in our country. Around a month ago there was a earthquake in Kraljevo where hundreds of people lost their homes. These days there were also floods in West Serbia. We want to pray for the protection and comfort of those who are affected by these disasters.
8. prayer for the distribution of shoe boxes (outreach of Samaritan’s Purse). In December, thousands of children will hear the good news. May that bring long lasting effects.
9. we pray for control over sports fans. violence is increasing… Groups that cheer for a certain team are under the control of the mafia and fascist groups. Those are the main sources of criminal groups. Pray for the ban of groups that approve of fascists, e.g. "Obraz" (translated as cheek) - two weeks ago they caused problems in the evangelical church in Nis.
10. For the recovery of the the economy in Serbia. There is practically no production. The building industry is blocked.

From Katarina in Belgrade, Serbia:

11. one thing that's been on my heart is my friend's pregnancy crisis clinic. As you may already know, abortion is quite a problem in Serbia. The people there just seem to be very ignorant about other methods of birth control, adoption, etc. So a friend of mine started a clinic years ago to counsel women and help them make informed choices. The clinic is doing well but they're always in need of supporters and donations. And in the near future, they would like to start doing sex education classes in schools, which is something the schools don't have right now. Eventually they would also like to handle the adoption process which is currently controlled by the government.
12. (Presently Katarina is in the United States) I told my friend I would try and raise some funds for them while I'm in the states and I haven't had any success so far. Let us pray that the windows of heaven would open for these babies in Serbia.

Let us seek the Father’s grace and mercy for Serbia, knowing that He hears us and has been waiting for us to call upon Him. Jeremiah 33:3 (New King James Version) ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Pray for Serbia

Often this happens to me, I will be listening to a message from my pastor or another teacher/preacher and the Lord will say to me, “You need to pray that over the Balkans or a particular country in the Balkans.” It happened yesterday while I was listening to my pastor’s Sunday morning message. He was speaking on Ephesians and I knew there was prayer points in that book God wanted me to pray over Serbia

The church in Serbia needs to know its place in the plan of God and know the mighty God they serve.

1) If Jesus was hurting wouldn’t He heal His body? We as Christians are the Body of Christ and He want us to be healed. Lord we ask for a healing of the churches in Serbia. Lord, we not only want to see the Christians healed physically but heal the hurts that unrighteousness brings.
2) Here is the word from the Lord. Eph. 5: 25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. Jesus is making His church clean and pure worldwide. Let us pray that this generation of Christian Serbs will submit to His total redemption and come forth blameless.
3) Jesus is committed to purify His Church. There is no darkness to dark to stop the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. Lord root out any darkness in the churches. Back biting, immorality, jealousy, covetousness, and especially that Jezebel spirit, be gone in the name of Jesus. We declare freedom to come forth in the Serbian churches.
4) Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Lord let no Serbian Christian think they are far off from your grace. They are cleansed by the blood of Jesus and they have the fullness of His mercy every morning. Lord, we pray that You will renew Your love, joy and peace in the churches there.

Eph. 2:4-6 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

5) Do it Lord, do it
a. release your rich mercy
b. make the Serbian churches alive in You
c. raise them up to sit in heavenly places with You.
6) Eph. 4: 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Let the power of sin be torn off. May they stand in Jesus’ redemption, ready to go forth in good works to bring hope to Serbia.

Pray for Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrade is a very old city, first established by the Romans. The records show that the city, being in a strategic location, was battled over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times since the ancient period by countless armies of the East and West. The locals say it has been destroyed fifty (50) times by invading armies. There is endurance deep in the souls of the people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgrade#cite_note-8

7) Oh, Lord, we know You like endurance in Your people. Lord, we pray that this enduring spirit will be turned to a steadfast love for You. Let the people of Belgrade praise You.
8) With there only being an estimated one thousand (1,000) evangelical Christians in this city of 1.7 million, let us pray for evangelism to be released in Belgrade.
9) Lord, we ask that You raise up faithful intercessors to pray day and night for Belgrade.
10) Belgrade is a very dark city with sin abounding openly. My wife did a prayer-walk in Belgrade three years ago and her team reported an oppressive spirit that kept them from praying efficiently. Lord, we pray that you will shake the atmosphere over Belgrade and cast those oppressive spirits down.
11) Lord we pray for the Serbian Orthodox Church. Lord, light a fire in their mist. We believe You can raise the dead.

You may be wondering about the picture above. About a month ago I took a prophetic course and part of the course was to paint a prophetic picture. Now I am not an artist but this picture is what I was inspired to paint. It represents Belgrade with the rivers running through it. I hope you can make out the two hands holding the city. Actually these are my hands; because God continues to make Belgrade the burden of my heart. The white spot in the middle is the main Serbian Orthodox Church, the heart of the Serb nation and the main source of national pride.
